RN Supervisor – Cardiovascular ICU (Kings Hwy)

About the role

This role acts as a supervisor and provider of care at the point of care to individuals and cohorts of patients within the Cardiovascular ICU. The RN Supervisor coordinates, delegates and supervises care provided by the healthcare team, serving as a resource for assessment, planning, and evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Provides direct, hands‑on care for critically ill patients in pre‑ and postoperative settings.
• Assesses risks and benefits of medical interventions and delivers life‑saving treatment in emergencies.
• Organizes, plans, supervises and coordinates patient care within the Cardiovascular ICU.
• Supervises, develops and evaluates assigned nurses and patient care technicians.
• Promotes evidence‑based nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines.
• Manages staffing, scheduling and ensures necessary clinical supplies are available.
• Collaborates with quality, safety and patient experience leadership to improve outcomes.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience in acute care or 2 years as an LPN in acute care; preferred 2 years RN experience.
• Strong assessment abilities, knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medications and end‑of‑life care.
• Effective communication, organizational and time‑management skills.
