RN Infusion (PRN) - Oncology/Hematology

About the role

aoncology is hiring a part-time (PRN) Registered Nurse for its Oncology/Hematology practice in Loudoun and Reston. The nurse delivers safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and biotherapy, and works with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification and drug administration
• Safely administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents as ordered, using ONS standards
• Provide triage care and telephone triage, prioritizing calls from patients, families, hospitals, pharmacies and physicians
• Dispose of biohazardous waste safely per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the treatment plan
• Maintain thorough, accurate EMR documentation and capture appropriate charges
• Assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, and complete annual safety and nursing trainings
• Work at any company location as needed, attend mandatory meetings, and work overtime when given sufficient notice

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license
• Current CPR and BLS certification and a valid driver's license
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Fluency in English and strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work remotely when required

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Proficiency in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
