Respiratory Equipment Technician

About the role

The Respiratory Equipment Technician supports patient care by maintaining, cleaning, and preparing critical care respiratory equipment. This position works within Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Respiratory Care Services at Lehigh Valley Hospital‑Cedar Crest.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, sterilize, and replenish reusable respiratory equipment and ensure it passes functional safety tests.
• Inspect, monitor, and verify that patient medical equipment is in good working condition and ready for procedures.
• Manage medical gas cylinders, including safe storage, transport, and inventory tracking.
• Place work orders for preventative maintenance and coordinate repairs for equipment due for service.

Required profile

• Must be 18 years or older and able to interact with healthcare professionals and the public.
• Ability to follow infection‑control guidelines and pay close attention to detail during equipment assembly and testing.
• Physical ability to lift 40‑50 lb, stand/walk for long periods, and perform patient‑related movements.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software.
• Vendor‑specific maintenance training for life‑support equipment (preferred).
• Experience with Lawson and Score Sleep Software (preferred).
