Research Scientist – Vision‑Language‑Action (VLA) Models

About the role

Join Bosch's Intelligent Autonomous Systems group in Sunnyvale to lead cutting‑edge research on Vision‑Language‑Action models that power next‑generation ADAS, robotics and automation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and engineering on core AI and machine‑learning fields to enable embodied AI for ADAS/AD, industrial automation and robotics.
• Advance modular end‑to‑end perception and planning by integrating large vision‑language‑action models for reasoning and explainability.
• Collaborate with global research and engineering teams to transfer technology and integrate systems into Bosch platforms.
• Implement research outcomes to solve real‑world challenges and contribute to high‑quality system integration.
• Publish findings in top conferences or journals and file patents.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics or related field, or a Master’s with ≥2 years industry experience.
• Minimum 3 years of R&D experience in AI, computer vision, and robotic or automotive motion planning.
• Strong publication record in premier ML, robotics or CV venues.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, C++ or Rust.
• Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Hands‑on reinforcement learning (e.g., PPO, DQN, DDPG).
• Building multimodal transformer‑based vision‑language‑action models.
• Computer‑vision expertise such as object detection, segmentation, 3D scene understanding, sensor calibration.
