Rental Delivery Driver II (CDL-A) - Tampa, FL

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Rental Delivery Driver II (RDDII) in Tampa, FL, who holds a Class A CDL and drives a tractor-trailer or straight truck to deliver large equipment to DIY and professional customers. The schedule is Tuesday to Saturday. The driver knows the basics of the equipment delivered and gives customers basic training on its proper use, and checks that equipment is clean and operational before and after each delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a semi tractor-trailer with a 53' flatbed trailer and a class 7 straight truck, loading and unloading equipment and securing it properly, and make local deliveries and pickups to customer job sites
• Deploy new equipment to store locations, including performing pre-delivery inspections, delivering to the store, training store associates and handling check-in and check-out procedures
• Maintain accurate parts and fleet inventories through proper documentation and transfers
• Document all work using the company technology platform, obtain required signatures on rental contracts and stay current on local licensing and safety requirements
• Perform other duties assigned by the Rental Operations Supervisor, Regional Rental Manager or other authorized personnel

Required profile

• Legally permitted to work in the United States and at least 21 years old
• Class A CDL with a valid DOT medical card
• 2 years of tractor-trailer driving experience in the last 5 years, including 1 year on a flatbed
• Clean driving record and knowledge of local roadways and delivery routing
• Understanding of safe load securement and Motor Carrier Safety regulations
• High school diploma or GED

Required skills

• Operating delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers and towable construction equipment
• Use of handheld technology (smartphone, laptop, tablet)
• Preferred: Microsoft Office Suite, negotiation and complaint resolution, strong written and verbal communication
