Registered Polysomnographic Tech (RPSGT) - Per Diem Weekend Nights

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) for its Sleep Center. The schedule is per diem, weekend night shift. The RPSGT performs artifact-free polysomnography and related diagnostic tests and data analysis under the general and direct supervision of the Sleep Center Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Perform artifact-free polysomnography and other related diagnostic tests and data analysis
• Assist with the orientation and training of new technologists and Certified Polysomnographic Technologists (CPSGT)
• May include PSG data analysis (scoring PSG), collection and compilation of QA data, and patient follow-up tasks
• Use critical thinking to work independently and supervise other technical staff
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Certification as an RPSGT through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
• Respiratory therapy license preferred
• American Heart Association BLS certification for health care providers (recertified every 5 years; 10 BRPT-approved CECs per year averaged over 5 years may replace retesting)
• An associate degree is preferred
• Threshold requirements completed annually, including Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements such as TB/PPD and surveillance program, plus maintenance of professional licenses and certifications

Required skills

• Attention to detail and ability to stay alert during long procedures (up to 4-5 hours of sitting, interrupted by patient care)
• Ability to sit for 2-3 hours at a computer workstation for PSG scoring
• Ability to move between patient rooms, ambulate, position and transfer patients
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and push or pull 250 pounds
• Precise hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity
• Physical agility test (PAT) required for new hires, transfers and returnees from medical leave
