Radiologic Technologist (Surgery) – Full‑Time Evenings

About the role

Ochsner is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform routine surgical radiography during evening shifts, Monday through Friday. The role involves direct patient care, imaging acquisition, and mentorship of junior staff in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders and ensure accurate procedure selection.
• Operate radiographic equipment independently, including placement of tubes, IVs, catheters, and administration of contrast as needed.
• Review and transmit diagnostic‑quality images, performing quality‑control checks in line with regulatory standards.
• Utilize the radiology information system (RIS) to document care and facilitate patient flow.
• Explain procedures to patients, adapt communication style to diverse populations, and maintain patient privacy.
• Assist with departmental operations such as inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registration or eligibility within 90 days of hire, plus a current state license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and travel between facilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency operating radiography equipment and performing contrast studies.
• Experience with radiology information systems and computer‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients and clinical teams.
