Radiologic Technologist / Medical Assistant – Dual Role

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist/Medical Assistant to work in the Central Urgent Care Clinic. The dual‑role position supports patient care from registration through imaging and assists providers during visits.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits, complete registration, explain procedures, and answer questions.
• Operate radiology equipment and radiology information systems to perform imaging studies, including placement of tubes and administration of contrast.
• Review images for diagnostic quality, perform quality‑control checks, and document findings in the electronic health record.
• Assist providers by verifying orders, ensuring equipment readiness, and supporting procedural workflows.
• Mentor junior staff and students, and help with departmental tasks such as inventory and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an AMA‑approved Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT registration and state licensure for radiologic technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior experience required; healthcare experience preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating radiographic equipment and performing routine imaging procedures.
• Experience with radiology information systems and electronic documentation.
• Computer literacy with common software and web‑based applications.
