QA Engineer - Payroll

About the role

A quality-driven team is looking for a meticulous QA professional with an extensive understanding of U.S. payroll, benefits and compliance issues. The role works within the payroll, compliance and benefits areas, with working hours overlapping U.S. hours.

Key responsibilities

• Define, establish and stage data requirements for payroll scenarios and calculations, including employee demographics, wage structures, deductions, tax rates and brackets across multiple jobs and locations.
• Conduct regression testing, combining manual testing with automated testing tools.
• Create, maintain and update test cases as the team makes changes.
• Review and validate U.S. payroll calculations in different scenarios.
• Take part in the full development life cycle, from concept to release, in an Agile environment.
• Apply industry-standard QA practices, including test case design, defect reporting and Agile testing, and use common QA tools.
• Analyze, track and report application issues, summarise testing status and risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Work with automation QA engineers to identify and prioritise areas for test automation.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in the PEO industry, with hands-on experience using software commonly used in PEOs.
• College degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science.
• Ability to interpret tax rules, analyse payroll data and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and communicate clearly with the team and leadership.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of U.S. payroll and taxes.
• Keen eye for detail to spot errors in payroll data and tax calculations.
• Comfortable with Excel and other data-analysis tools.
