Project Engineer III - PSE

About the role

The Product Support Engineering Project Engineer III for RYOBI Outdoor Power Equipment leads cross-functional initiatives for mass production support and continuous improvement projects, while keeping performance, cost and user value in balance. The role sits under the project leader hierarchy, focuses on consumer outdoor products and works closely with new product development engineering groups, sourcing, quality, product management and global manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple low to moderately complex engineering projects, driving comprehensive plans and schedules to meet milestones
• Coordinate project planning, identify critical path tasks and risks, and track progress with regular status updates to senior management
• Lead technical trade-off discussions on cost, schedule and performance with product management and cross-functional teams
• Escalate project issues appropriately and apply knowledge of the product development process from conception to launch
• Interpret data and recommend designs, including computer-aided simulation, material and heat-treatment selection, tolerance stacks, statics and dynamics, and noise and vibration analysis
• Work with suppliers on part and product specifications and coordinate qualification testing for safety, durability and performance
• Collaborate with Quality & Reliability Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance and Product Management

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a related field
• Experience managing low to moderately complex product development projects
• Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, materials and manufacturing processes
• Results-driven, deadline-oriented, able to handle several projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment

Required skills

• DFMA, cost modeling, teardown benchmarking and root cause analysis
• Drafting test plans and specifications
• Familiarity with CAD and project management tools
