Project Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Project Accountant for a high‑end residential construction firm. You will own budget monitoring and billing cycles, ensuring project financials are accurate, compliant, and within contractual scope.

Key responsibilities

• Execute monthly reconciliations between project and general ledgers and enforce precise cost coding aligned with budgets and Work Breakdown Structures.
• Perform variance analysis on committed versus actual costs, assemble audit‑ready draw packages, and verify subcontractor invoices and lien waivers.
• Strengthen internal controls by optimizing invoice workflows, maintaining segregation of duties, and creating tools such as change order logs and vendor tracking schedules.
• Identify and resolve gaps in financial and admin workflows, support process improvements, and ensure audit readiness.
• Collaborate with project managers and service teams, solve complex problems proactively, and maintain transparent communication across the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably in residential or luxury projects.
• Proven ability in budget tracking, job costing, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive mindset.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Construction accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Procore.
