About the role
Texas A&M AgriLife Research is seeking a Program Specialist II-1 to lead a statewide Extension program focused on feral hog biology, ecology, damage assessment, and management. The role involves developing educational content, coordinating research demonstrations, and collaborating with stakeholders across Texas.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive Extension program on feral hog management for landowners, producers, and natural‑resource professionals.
- Design and deliver workshops, field days, webinars, and other educational events, and provide technical support to County Extension Agents.
- Collaborate with researchers and partners to design applied research projects and result demonstrations, collect and analyze data, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Create and update Extension publications, fact sheets, management guides, and digital content for websites, newsletters, and social media.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies such as Texas Parks and Wildlife, USDA Wildlife Services, and other stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in wildlife science, natural resources, agriculture, biology, ecology or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in wildlife or natural‑resource management, preferably with feral hog issues.
- Preferred: Master’s degree and experience in applied field research, Extension publication development, and delivering adult education programs.
Required skills
- Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Quantitative data analysis and interpretation.
- Proficiency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases).
- Digital content creation for websites, social media, video, webinars, and other online platforms.
