Principal Stress Engineer

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft seeks a Principal Stress Engineer to join its Engineering department in Wichita, Kansas. You will work as a Static Stress analyst on complex aircraft structures, using both hand calculations and advanced computer techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complicated static analysis for metallic and non‑metallic airframe parts.
• Collaborate with design and fatigue teams to deliver high strength‑to‑weight solutions.
• Document analyses for trade studies and detail drawing sign‑offs.
• Guide technical signatory processes and mentor others in obtaining signatory authority.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering with strong structural design emphasis.
• 13 + years of experience in static stress analysis of airframe structures.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to work onsite (approximately 90% of the time) and travel as needed.

Required skills

• Static stress analysis of aircraft structures.
• Hand calculations and computer‑based analysis tools.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
• Knowledge of Airbus structural documentation and signatory processes.
