Principal Scientist, Pharmacokinetics

About the role

The Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism, and Bioanalytics (PDMB) function in Merck's R&D Division seeks a dynamic Principal Scientist to lead DMPK efforts across discovery and clinical programs.

Key responsibilities

• Guide design and interpretation of in silico, in vitro and in vivo studies to define PK/PD, DDI risk and metabolism of small molecules, antibodies and drug conjugates.
• Assess program risks, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate findings to cross‑functional teams.
• Author source reports and regulatory documents supporting IND, IB and other filings.
• Lead DDI strategy, build PBPK models (e.g., SimCYP) and use Phoenix for PK/PD analysis.

Required profile

• PhD (or Master’s with 12+ years) in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, chemistry or related field.
• 8+ years of industry experience in DMPK for multiple therapeutic modalities.
• Proven ability to support early‑to‑late stage clinical programs and interact with regulatory agencies.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• ADME and bioanalytical method development.
• PK/PD and PBPK modeling (Phoenix, SimCYP).
• DMPK, drug‑interaction assessment and metabolism prediction.
• Experience with small molecules, peptides, antibodies and drug‑conjugates.
