Principal AI Engineer

About the role

Discovery Land Company is seeking a full‑time Principal AI Engineer to lead its AI program. Reporting to the VP of Artificial Intelligence, you will co‑own the AI strategy, set technical direction, and deliver high‑impact AI solutions that automate business processes and save hours across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑own AI strategy and 1‑year/3‑year roadmap, define platform choices and investment priorities.
• Define and own AI reference architecture, set engineering standards for evaluation, logging, guardrails, security and code review.
• Lead technical evaluation and selection of AI platforms, models and vendors.
• Partner with departments to identify, prioritize and ship AI use cases, manage backlog and delivery cadence.
• Build agents, skills and automations on Claude, integrate with MCP, Microsoft 365, n8n or Power Automate, and implement retrieval/knowledge‑base solutions.
• Provide training, documentation and feedback loops to drive adoption and track metrics.

Required profile

• 8+ years of combined software engineering and product management experience, including 3+ years delivering LLM‑based products.
• Hands‑on production experience with Claude/Anthropic ecosystem and Microsoft 365 stack.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous business requests into measurable AI solutions.
• Experience defining technical strategy, reference architecture or engineering standards across multiple teams.
• Strong mentorship and technical design review skills.

• Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL.
• Claude (Claude Enterprise, Claude Code, Claude API, Agent SDK) and MCP integrations.
• Microsoft 365: Entra ID, SharePoint, Microsoft Graph API, Power Automate, Teams.
• n8n, Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot Studio.
• AWS services (Bedrock, IAM, Lambda) – preferred.
• Oracle CX, Sage Intacct, CData Connect AI – preferred.
• Experience with RAG, evaluation frameworks and LLM observability.
