Postdoctoral Research Associate

About the role

Northeastern University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a mixed‑methods study evaluating the International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC). The role involves collaborating with partner organizations and contributing to all phases of the research.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage a longitudinal tracking system for IBPLC students, handling consent, data collection, and case‑study protocols.
• Conduct quantitative analyses of predictive validity linking IBPLC scores to college outcomes.
• Coordinate reliability studies, including observation protocol design and advisor scoring analysis.
• Support construct validity by managing expert panels and aligning assessment frames with performance data.
• Lead qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis for focus groups, surveys, and interviews.
• Maintain IRB protocols, data use agreements, and study documentation.
• Draft research summaries, final reports, and dissemination products such as manuscripts and briefs.

Required profile

• PhD or EdD in education, measurement, sociology, higher education, or related field, completed by start date.
• Demonstrated mixed‑methods research experience, especially longitudinal, predictive validity, or reliability designs.
• Record of scholarly writing and ability to communicate findings to practitioner and policy audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical software such as R or SPSS.
• Experience with qualitative analysis tools (NVivo, Dedoose, or Atlas.ti).
• Survey design and administration using Qualtrics or equivalent.
