Plumbing Inspector / Plans Examiner

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Plumbing Inspector / Plans Examiner to enforce municipal codes and ensure plumbing compliance on construction projects in Palm Beach, Florida. The role involves independent judgment, field inspections, and interaction with contractors, architects, and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Perform plumbing inspections for compliance with national, state, and local codes, including septic systems, drainage fields, and water piping.
• Review and approve plans to verify plumbing code compliance before and during construction.
• Investigate complaints, issue correction orders, and conduct re‑inspections; report violations and represent the city at hearings when required.
• Participate in meetings with developers, architects, and engineers to discuss code requirements and project specifications.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of supervisory construction experience.
• Extensive knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related regulations.
• Proven ability to detect defective workmanship, interpret codes, and make decisions based on established precedents.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information to non‑technical stakeholders and handle difficult interactions diplomatically.

Required skills

• Certified Plumbing Inspector (Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation).
• Certification as a Journeyman or Master Electrician, or a state‑certified Electrical Contractor.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and diagrams.
• Proficiency with computer software applications used for inspection reporting.
