Plant Quality Engineer – Welding/Fabrication/Assembly

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a Plant Quality Engineer to provide day‑to‑day quality engineering support at the Grantley Plant in York, PA. The role focuses on welding, fabrication and assembly areas, driving first‑pass yields, product flow and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Grantley Plant and lead continuous‑improvement teams to reduce cost of poor quality.
• Support COPQ metrics, generate scrap/rework reports, and manage non‑conforming material disposition.
• Participate in Material Review Board, conduct measurement systems analysis and process capability studies.
• Develop inspection plans, perform first‑article dimensional reviews and assist in procedure revisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Weld, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace) with 2+ years manufacturing experience in heavy‑industrial, automotive or aerospace environments.
• Experience with welding NDT inspection methods (MT, PT, VT, UT) and knowledge of ISO 9000, TS 16949 or AS 9100 is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office and quality data analysis tools such as Minitab.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving, GD&T, blueprint reading and leadership skills.
