Pilates Reformer Instructor

About the role

The Parkway YMCA is looking for qualified individuals to join its center staff as Pilates Reformer instructors. The position is part time and pays $37.00 to $40.00 per hour. Candidates must hold certification through a recognized provider and feel comfortable leading individual or small group reformer sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, safe and educational reformer sessions.
• Answer questions from participants and members to support their health and well-being goals.
• Maintain working knowledge of reformer standards of practice.
• Build authentic relationships with members and help them connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Adjust your approach to suit each participant's capabilities, physical condition, health and culture.
• Celebrate participants' achievements and progress.
• Keep accurate session records using YMCA software and follow YMCA policies and emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Certification through a recognized provider.
• Great communication skills, a desire to help others and a calm, approachable way of giving feedback.
• In-depth knowledge of reformer techniques and mechanics.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience teaching Reformer.
• Degree in Exercise Science or Physical Education preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a staff team and to interpret the YMCA's mission and goals.

Required skills

• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (supplied if necessary).
• Effective communication with adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.
