Physician Specialist, Option A (Internal Medicine)

About the role

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery of the Illinois Department of Human Services is hiring a Physician Specialist, Option A, for the Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center in Springfield, Illinois. The physician serves as the primary internal medicine provider for patients and employees of the facility, provides consultation to the psychiatrists and takes an active part in medical staff committees. The position is salaried, full time, and the closing date is November 4, 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a primary physician specializing in internal medicine
• Provide consultation to the psychiatrists
• Participate actively on medical staff committees
• Take part in all mandatory training for the Department of Human Services and the Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center
• Serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD)

Required profile

• Special license to practice medicine in Illinois, Internal Medicine
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor employment visas
• Bilingual skills are welcome
