Physical Therapy Assistant

About the role

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. You will teach exercises, assist with mobility devices, and apply therapeutic modalities to help patients regain function and reduce pain.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver physical therapy treatments according to the plan of care, including exercise instruction, gait training, and use of assistive devices.
• Apply modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation to aid recovery and pain relief.
• Measure and document patient performance changes and communicate progress to the supervising PT.
• Ensure cost‑effective care and complete all required documentation in compliance with policies and regulations.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Pennsylvania (upon hire).
• Ability to work at multiple LVHN locations on a per‑diem basis.
• Physical ability to lift/carry 40‑50 lb and stand/walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Proficiency with therapeutic ultrasound and electrical stimulation equipment.
• Experience fitting and instructing patients on assistive devices for gait training.
• Knowledge of basic physical therapy modalities and patient education techniques.
