Physical Therapist – PRN – Acute Care

About the role

The Physical Therapist provides direct patient care in an acute care setting at Ochsner Medical Center, working under the direction of the Physical Therapy Supervisor. This PRN position supports the evaluation, treatment, and documentation of patients in accordance with Louisiana law.

Key responsibilities

• Perform age- and diagnosis-appropriate evaluations and treatments for acute care patients.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation according to department standards.
• Provide direction and guidance to Physical Therapy Assistants and technicians as needed.
• Adapt communication style to respect patient privacy and ensure clear explanations of procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.
• Current Louisiana physical therapy license or eligibility for licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data entry for patient information.
• Computer dexterity for retrieving and documenting patient records.
• Ability to lift, bend, squat, and perform physical tasks required in a heavy‑work environment.
