Perception Hardware Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Perception Hardware Engineer to develop and integrate sensing and perception systems for autonomous unmanned surface vessels. You will work on radar, camera, LiDAR, GPS and other sensors to create robust situational awareness for maritime operations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the technical expert on perception hardware and its integration into Saronic products.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, optical, electrical, software, manufacturing) to define requirements and validation methods.
• Create and present detailed design reviews for perception hardware development and integration.
• Develop analysis and testing methods for new products and sub‑components.
• Maintain vendor relationships for perception sensors and design calibration fixtures and tooling.
• Provide manufacturing support, troubleshoot and resolve perception hardware issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience designing complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and hands‑on experience with sensor design, analysis and testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Siemens NX / Unigraphics preferred).
• Experience with tolerance stack‑up analysis, hand calculations and finite element analysis.
• Sensor integration expertise (radar, camera, LiDAR, GPS).
• Engineering trade‑study and system analysis experience.
• Design and testing for shock and vibration environments.
