Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) PRN – Days or Nights

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) on a PRN basis to provide respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The role involves delivering therapeutic procedures, monitoring, and education in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policies.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures, including arterial blood gas analysis and EKGs.
• Provides care tailored to the age and specific needs of neonatal to geriatric patients.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy (Bachelor’s preferred); no prior experience required.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (RRT).
• Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiac Support to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications and data entry.

Required skills

• Respiratory therapy procedures and ventilation support.
• Arterial Blood Gas analysis and interpretation.
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) acquisition and interpretation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) skills.
• Computer skills for electronic health record documentation.
