Patient Transporter – Per Diem

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Patient Transporter on a per‑diem basis to support safe and timely movement of patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility. You will work directly with clinical staff to ensure patients reach diagnostic and treatment areas efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including those with oxygen tanks, IV pumps, and other medical equipment.
• Coordinate transport activities at entrances, discharged patient holding areas, and throughout the hospital using transport software.
• Handle portable oxygen cylinders safely, perform safety checks, and follow infection‑control protocols.
• Receive, document, and prioritize transport assignments, and assist with emergent situations as needed.
• Perform equipment distribution, inventory management, cleaning, and sanitizing of clinical equipment.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 1 year of customer‑service experience.
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, high‑quality customer service to patients and staff.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 lb and perform frequent standing, walking, and occasional kneeling or bending.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 180 days of hire.
• Proficiency with basic office equipment (computer, typewriter, copier, fax, calculator).
• Ability to safely handle and store oxygen tanks.
