Patient Care Technician

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed clinical team members at Lehigh Valley Health Network. The role supports both in‑person and telehealth encounters, ensuring safe and compassionate care for a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Perform validated patient care activities, respond to call lights, and conduct assigned patient rounds.
• Assist with telehealth examinations, operating peripheral devices, video‑conferencing equipment, and software such as Epic and Vidyo.
• Maintain a safe patient environment, manage supplies and equipment, and may serve as a virtual safety associate.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED with knowledge of medical terminology and patient care needs.
• Ability to complete delegated tasks, understand patient safety risks, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
• Experience using Vidyo video‑conferencing platform.
• Use of electronic stethoscope and other telehealth peripheral devices.
