Patient Access Representative / Medical Assistant – Hepatology Clinic

About the role

This full‑time position supports the Hepatology Clinic by handling appointment scheduling and providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed provider. The role blends administrative duties with basic medical assistant functions to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments by phone or in person, and coordinate transfers to appropriate departments.
• Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information, explain insurance benefits, and collect co‑pays, deductibles, and self‑pay amounts.
• Perform vital signs, obtain height, weight, allergy and medication histories, and conduct other basic screenings.
• Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and answer questions.
• Maintain accurate completion of required patient forms and documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Experience in a clinic or medical office setting is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to work collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, and adapt communication style to diverse patient populations.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Familiarity with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
