Part‑time CDL Driver for Senior Center

About the role

Catholic Charities of Long Island seeks a compassionate part‑time CDL driver to transport senior citizens and volunteers to and from the senior community service center and other locations. The role supports the organization’s mission of dignified, hopeful care.

Key responsibilities

• Drive seniors and volunteers safely to the senior center, homes, pharmacies, food stores and the Hicksville administrative office.
• Assist frail or wheelchair‑bound individuals with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including lifting or pushing wheelchairs.
• Maintain accurate daily paperwork such as log sheets, mileage, trip counts, fuel receipts and money received.
• Support food service at the center by setting up and breaking down dining tables, handling heavy pots of hot water, and moving trays in and out of ovens.
• Dispose of unconsumed food for sanitation pickup and help staff with recreational or social events as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of driving experience with basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
• Current New York State CDL with a passenger ("P") endorsement.
• Ability to lift and push to assist wheelchair‑bound clients.
• Strong desire to provide compassionate service to seniors.

• Valid CDL with passenger endorsement.
