Part-Time On-Air Talent (Weekends and Holidays)

About the role

iHeartMedia is hiring a part-time on-air talent for its WKTU-FM station in New York. The host performs news, talk, music, comedy or other format shows on weekends and holidays, and is paid by the hour.

Key responsibilities

• Perform news, talk, music, comedic or other format shows and programs for broadcast entertainment
• Interview guests, moderate debates, converse with callers and host live events
• Air logged commercials, promotions and other programming essential to the station's operation
• Prepare each air shift independently, write, produce, interview, tape or broadcast material
• Maintain a website personality page and prepare content for websites, blogs and social media
• Assist with voice-over and production of paid and non-paid spots, and direct support staff
• Handle emergency inserts such as news updates, breaking news and alerts, and stay on call for disasters
• Follow approved interviews and events, and check studio equipment and notify engineering of problems

Required profile

• 3+ years of on-air radio experience
• Available on weekends and holidays
• 4-year college degree, preferably in Communications or Broadcast Journalism
• Audio demo of on-air interviews, commentary and announcements
• Strong knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
• Pleasant, charismatic voice with excellent pronunciation and clear verbal and written communication
• Ability to adapt to schedule changes and fast pace, and to work in a team
• Other languages such as Spanish may be required

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social networking
• Familiarity with NexGen, Vox Pro and Pro Tools
• Digital audio editing software
