Producer/Editor - Sports Video Content

About the role

The Producer/Editor develops, produces and post-produces video content supporting the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and broader enterprise initiatives. The role emphasizes video editing, storytelling and editorial execution, taking projects from concept through final delivery. It involves collaboration with internal departments and creative partners across digital, social, in-venue, broadcast, marketing and internal communications platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Edit short- and long-form video, shaping footage with pacing, music, sound design, graphics, color correction and visual effects
• Review and organize footage, project files, audio and graphics, and prepare content for digital, social, broadcast and internal platforms
• Use Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop
• Develop original concepts, story ideas and treatments, and produce interviews, features, event recaps, promotional and social content
• Conduct interviews with talent, players, coaches and employees, and plan and coordinate video productions including locations, crew, schedules and equipment
• Coordinate content for live and prerecorded presentations, meetings and events, and source props, music and production resources
• Maintain organized production assets and the department's video archive, and recommend hardware, software and workflow improvements
• Manage multiple projects, communicate status and challenges, and stay current with editing techniques and post-production technology

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Film, Media Production or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered
• A minimum of four years of professional experience in video production, editing, sports, entertainment, broadcast, news or a related field is preferred
• Experience producing interviews, features, event coverage and narrative-driven content
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours, and to travel according to corporate policy

Required skills

• Demonstrated proficiency in video editing and post-production workflows, with strong experience in Adobe Premiere Pro
• Familiarity with additional Adobe Creative Cloud applications is preferred
• Understanding of codecs, compression, encoding, resolutions, frame rates, aspect ratios and delivery specifications
• Cinematography and visual storytelling skills, including operating professional cameras and production equipment
