Part-time Night Respiratory Therapist (LTAC)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a part‑time Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care during night shifts in the LTAC unit. The role involves delivering oxygen therapy, ventilation support, diagnostic testing, and patient education for a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and airway management.
• Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs, documenting all clinical information accurately.
• Educate patients and co‑workers on treatment plans and respiratory procedures.
• Maintain professional certifications and stay current with technical procedures and regulatory standards.
• Participate in staff meetings and perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications for data entry and retrieval.

Required skills

• Respiratory therapy techniques including oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation.
• Arterial blood gas analysis and EKG interpretation.
• Airway management and artificial airway changes.
• Computer data entry and Windows application usage.
