Part-Time Classroom Assistant for Youth Challenge Program

About the role

The Youth Challenge Program seeks a motivated Part‑Time Classroom Assistant to support cadets working toward their high school diploma or GED. You will work directly in the classroom, helping teachers deliver lessons and ensuring a focused learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with conducting lessons and managing classroom activities.
• Provide nurturing, encouraging support to students during instruction.
• Monitor the classroom to minimize distractions and keep students on task.
• Communicate student needs to the Site Manager and teachers.
• Oversee student work, detect cheating, and ensure academic integrity.
• Operate computers and specialized AV equipment; coordinate with technology staff when needed.
• Perform clerical duties such as grading papers, preparing materials, typing, and reproducing documents.
• Supervise assigned groups or individuals as directed by school administration.
• Assist with special events like Family Day and Intake Day.
• Provide tutorial and remedial assistance for students receiving both regular and special education services.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or working toward a high school diploma or GED.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, encouraging attitude.
• Ability to follow structured, disciplined program guidelines.
• Reliability and punctuality for a part‑time schedule of up to 28 hours per week.

Required skills

• Basic computer operation.
• Familiarity with audio‑visual equipment.
