Parking Service Officer

About the role

The Parking Service Officer provides excellent customer service while ensuring safety, responsiveness, and professionalism on the University of Miami campus. The role involves monitoring and enforcing parking zones, facilitating traffic control, and assisting motorists across campus grounds.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot, write warnings and citations, and coordinate vehicle relocations and tows.
• Maintain communication with dispatch using radios or cell phones, document activities, and report safety hazards.
• Assist motorists with flat tires, lockouts, or dead batteries and provide wayfinding information.
• Deploy and recover traffic‑control devices for events and support ADA routing and VIP access.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED and a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience interacting with the public.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and special events.
• Commitment to university values and ability to handle confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience using handheld citation devices, mobile payment validation, and license‑plate‑recognition technology.
• Ability to operate two‑way radios and other parking‑related equipment.
