About the role
The Outdoor Pursuits Guide leads members and guests through on‑mountain and backcountry programs at Homewood Mountain Resort, delivering safe, fun, and memorable experiences across skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, and cat/UTV tours.
Key responsibilities
- Guide and instruct participants in skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, and motorized tours, ensuring safety in all conditions.
- Lead backcountry and off‑piste trips for qualified guides, assessing avalanche risk and making real‑time decisions.
- Prepare, inspect, and stage equipment before each outing and maintain inventory and maintenance records.
- Transport guests using company vehicles, ATVs, chairlifts, or snowcats as needed.
- Support daily department operations, attend meetings, and assist other club services during peak periods.
Required profile
- Tier 1: minimum 3 years outdoor recreation leadership and 4 seasons of ski or snowboard instruction, with professional certification (PSIA‑AASI, USSA, USASA) and avalanche qualifications (AIARE L1/L2, Rescue).
- Tier 2: minimum 5 years professional guiding, advanced off‑piste skills, guiding certification (PSIA‑AASI, USSA, USASA, AMGA, IFMGA) and advanced avalanche qualifications (A3/AIARE Pro 1‑2).
- Current AED, First Aid and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain before start).
- Valid driver’s license, ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, and meet physical demands of the role.
Required skills
- Professional snow‑sports instruction certification (PSIA‑AASI, USSA, USASA or equivalent).
- Avalanche safety qualifications (AIARE L1/L2, Rescue or A3/Pro 1‑2).
- Current AED, First Aid and CPR certification.
