Open‑Rank Faculty Position in Human Performance for Extreme Environments

About the role
Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences seeks an open‑rank tenure‑track faculty member to lead research on human performance in extreme environments, ranging from space to battlefield settings. The appointment may be at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, with a secondary appointment in a related college.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program focused on psychological, neurobehavioral, cognitive, social, or communication sciences in extreme physical and cognitive load contexts.
- Teach undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and contribute to curriculum development.
- Mentor doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students and supervise research projects.
- Engage in service activities, including departmental, college, and university committees, professional societies, and community or industry collaborations.
Required profile
- PhD, ScD, EdD, MD, DO, PsyD or equivalent doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., exercise science, physiology, biomedical engineering, psychology, human factors, public health, data science).
- Demonstrated research track record in human performance within high‑performance or extreme environments.
- Evidence of or potential for securing extramural research funding.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and commitment to experiential learning.
- For associate rank: minimum 5 years of academic experience; for full rank: minimum 10 years.
