On-Call Caregiver

About the role

The Our House Residential Care Facility, part of the Cascade AIDS Project, is hiring an on-call caregiver. It is a 14-room facility where clinicians support people living with HIV who find it difficult to manage independent living. The caregiver provides direct resident care and environmental care of the facility on an as-needed basis, filling in open shifts as they become available.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Licensed Nurse to make sure residents' activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding, mobility) are met
• Provide direct resident care and dietary care, keeping the resident's dignity, independence and choice in mind
• Maintain accurate records of ADLs provided or omitted in each resident's electronic record
• Keep the facility neat and clean, including common living spaces and individual resident areas
• Communicate with outside providers and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care across shifts
• Attend all staff meetings and in-services; complete 12 in-service hours per year
• Interact respectfully with residents, staff, volunteers and visitors

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of home care or caregiving experience, or satisfactory completion of onsite training at Our House
• Ability to pass a DHS background check
• First Aid, CPR and food handler certification within the first 30 days of hire
• Basic computer skills
• Motivation to work with people with HIV/AIDS who need all levels of care

What we offer

• Starting pay of $23.17 per hour, with a $1.00 differential for evenings and weekends, $6.00 for nights and $6.50 for weekend nights
