Occupational Therapy Assistant - Acute Care Per Diem

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring a per diem Occupational Therapy Assistant for acute care, working weekdays and some weekends. The COTA works under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist to carry out the occupational therapy plan of care.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out the occupational therapy plan of care as designed by the Occupational Therapist
• Assist in supervising rehab aide personnel
• Communicate patient progress to the Occupational Therapist regarding the plan of care
• Document patient care in line with regulatory, licensing, payer and accrediting requirements
• Maintain equipment and the work area in a safe and clean condition
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited COTA program with an A.S. degree
• Licensed to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Florida
• American Heart Association BLS certification for health care providers
• Ability to lift and move patients and heavy equipment, including pushing or pulling up to 40 lbs and carrying or lifting up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to work in a stressful environment, independently and with attention to detail

Threshold requirements include annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance, and maintenance of required professional licenses and certifications.
