Occupational Therapist – Public School (Hiring Pool)

About the role

This posting creates a pool of qualified occupational therapists who can provide integrated, education-based therapy services for students with varying disabilities, from birth to age 21. It is not a specific vacancy; pre-qualified candidates will be referred to openings as they arise. Applicants are considered for the 2026-2027 school year.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement occupational therapy programs and activities for students.
• Provide indirect services to other service providers, including parents and other caretakers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by a course in occupational therapy accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the AMA, in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Current (or temporary) Maryland license as an occupational therapist, or eligibility for licensure with the Maryland State Board of Examiners.
• Additional instruction in sensory integration is recommended, as is knowledge of P.L. 94142, Maryland Bylaw 130401 and the role of the occupational therapist in public schools.
• Experience in a pediatric facility is desirable.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the basic principles of occupational therapy and human behavior norms, abnormalities and deficits.
• Ability to treat children and relate the program to other services in the educational setting and at home.
• Skill in oral and written communication and excellent human relations skills.

The wage range is a salary between $66,690 and $135,745 depending on education and experience. The position is a day job with 10 working months and multiple locations.
