Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Orthopedics

About the role

This position works in a collaborative outpatient orthopedics clinic, providing primary and urgent medical management under the supervision of a Medical Director. The role involves close interaction with residents, fellows, attendings, nurses and discharge coordinators to ensure high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management for orthopedic outpatients, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Teach and supervise residents, fellows, medical students and staff, and participate in patient and community education.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, discharge coordinators and other team members to plan, implement and evaluate care.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioner or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies.
• Current APRN or Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority in Louisiana.
• None required experience; preferred 3 years related experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑based applications and electronic health record data entry.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
