Radiation Therapist (PRN)

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a PRN Radiation Therapist to deliver ionizing radiation treatments to oncology patients in accordance with physician prescriptions. The role involves accurate documentation, patient monitoring, and coordination with the care team to ensure safe and effective therapy.

Key responsibilities

• Administer radiation therapy according to the Radiation Oncologist’s orders.
• Document port films, treatment charts, and billing daily.
• Perform quality control duties, weekly chart checks, and daily machine QA.
• Schedule and coordinate patient treatments, simulations, and boost fields.
• Act as liaison among physicians, patients, and families, monitoring for adverse reactions.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
• ARRT registration within 90 days of hire.
• State licensure by the Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners within 90 days.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No prior experience required; experience with contour fabrication and immobilization devices is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry software.
• Computer dexterity for retrieving and entering patient information.
• Knowledge of radiation therapy equipment operation and quality assurance procedures.
• Ability to accurately chart treatment data and maintain patient records.
