About the role
The Nuclear Medical Technologist II prepares and administers radioactive medications for therapeutic and imaging purposes, and performs nuclear cardiac imaging for cardiac patients. The role supports physicians in diagnosis and treatment while ensuring safety and quality in a full‑service hospital environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform high‑quality nuclear cardiology procedures, operate imaging equipment, and monitor patient safety during tests.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals by injection or inhalation, following strict radiation‑safety protocols.
- Oversee ordering, storage, handling, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals and maintain equipment calibration and documentation.
Required profile
- Associate’s degree in Nuclear Medicine and at least 1 year of hospital experience as a nuclear medicine technologist.
- Current Pennsylvania Basic Life Support certification (within 30 days) and either CNMT, NMTCB, or RT certification.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle confidential data, and support patient flow and examination room turnover.
Required skills
- Operation of nuclear cameras and sophisticated imaging equipment.
- Preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, including dosage calculation.
- Radiation safety practices (syringe shields, personal monitoring devices).
- Quality‑assurance activities related to equipment calibration and maintenance.
