NICU Hospitalist Physician

About the role

Ochsner Children’s Hospital is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatricians with a focus on Neonatal Medicine to join the NICU Hospitalist team at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center. This role offers the chance to work in a collaborative, academic Level IV NICU environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct care for critically ill newborns in a 67‑bed Level IV NICU.
• Collaborate closely with Neonatologists, Advanced Practice Practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists.
• Manage newborns requiring higher‑level care in the Transitional Care Nursery.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and the Vermont Oxford Network.
• Engage in teaching and learning opportunities through affiliations and educational programs.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
• Strong interest and experience in Neonatal Medicine.
• Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary, academic setting.

Required skills

• Neonatal intensive care expertise.
• Ability to manage high‑acuity and moderate‑acuity neonatal patients.
• Experience with quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
