Network Automation & Reliability Engineer

About the role

Ontrac Solutions is looking for a Network Automation & Reliability Engineer to design, build, and operate automation for hyperscale data‑center, backbone, and out‑of‑band networks. The role is Python‑first, focusing on code that provisions, validates, and audits a global fleet of devices while supporting on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain Python tooling for network provisioning, validation, and audit across a global fleet.
• Develop model‑driven provisioning libraries using Jinja2, NETCONF/YANG or REST APIs to enforce golden configurations.
• Implement automated remediation for recurring failures (route flaps, hardware faults, optical degradation) triggered by syslog and telemetry.
• Operate and scale data‑center fabrics, backbone links, and OOB management networks, including BGP policy design and zero‑downtime change management.
• Operationalize multi‑vendor streaming telemetry (gNMI/gRPC, OpenConfig) and build observability pipelines for fast root‑cause analysis.
• Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation, lead incident response, write RCAs, and create automation to prevent recurrence.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in network production, reliability, or automation.
• Demonstrated, sustained Python development in a production network environment.
• Hands‑on experience with BGP at scale, including policy work (local preference, MED, communities, route reflection, ECMP).
• Operational experience with at least two of Arista EOS, Juniper Junos, Cisco IOS‑XR/NX‑OS.
• Experience with Ansible, Jinja2, NETCONF/YANG, RESTCONF or vendor REST APIs.
