Mission Operations Mate – Autonomous Surface Vessel

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a licensed Deck Officer to join the crew of its mid‑size autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. As a Mission Operations Mate you will stand navigational watches, ensure safe vessel navigation, and support mission testing of cutting‑edge autonomous systems.

Key responsibilities

• Stand a 12‑hour navigational watch during transit to and from testing sites.
• Navigate the vessel safely while integrating autonomous system operations.
• Assist the Captain in overall vessel operation and execution of mission objectives.
• Participate in up to 50% travel for testing rotations (28 days on, 28 days off).

Required profile

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard Mate’s License (minimum National 500/1600T).
• STCW Basic Training, GMDSS Operator, OICNW, FCC License, and a current USCG STCW Medical Certificate.
• TWIC clearance and a valid passport.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
• Willingness to pass background and drug testing; security clearance eligibility preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with maritime navigation systems.
• Experience with jet‑drive propelled vessels (preferred).
• Familiarity with autonomous or unmanned maritime systems (a plus).
• Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
