Mission Operations Master – Autonomous Vessel Captain

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking an experienced Captain to lead operations of its mid‑sized autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. You will ensure safe navigation, oversee mission testing, and collaborate with on‑shore teams to advance autonomous maritime solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Navigate and operate the vessel safely, including during autonomous control periods.
• Supervise and develop the onboard crew to maintain high performance.
• Coordinate with shoreside personnel to execute mission plans and test autonomous systems.
• Lead safety and emergency response procedures on the vessel.
• Maintain detailed operational logs and ensure compliance with USCG, SOLAS, IMO, and class regulations.
• Manage port interactions, berth assignments, fueling, and dockside logistics.
• Serve as primary liaison with external maritime authorities and support services.

Required profile

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard 500/1600T Master License for self‑propelled vessels on oceans (unlimited Master’s license preferred).
• STCW Basic Training, GMDSS Operator, OICNW, Medical PIC, and FCC License.
• Proven senior officer experience aboard crewed vessels.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and leadership abilities.
• Commitment to safety and strict adherence to maritime regulations.
