Middle School History Teacher (Grades 6‑8)

About the role

Brooklyn Lab is seeking a passionate Middle School History Teacher to instruct grades 6‑8. You will join a small, collaborative community focused on rigorous, college‑preparatory education and personalized student growth.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Common Core‑aligned history lessons with high academic rigor.
• Differentiate instruction and lead small‑group work to meet diverse learner needs.
• Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and improve outcomes.
• Lead advisory periods addressing scholars’ social‑emotional development.
• Collaborate with faculty, participate in weekly professional development, and incorporate feedback from coaches.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, or General Education (Master’s preferred).
• New York State teaching certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Minimum two years of teaching experience, preferably in urban or low‑income settings.
• Demonstrated academic achievement and commitment to the school’s college‑prep mission.
• Growth mindset, teamwork orientation, and openness to feedback.
