Mental Health Crisis Counselor

About the role

The Pathways Center Care Campus in Newnan, GA operates two 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Units for adults and children. These short‑term, medically monitored residential programs provide psychiatric stabilization, detoxification, assessment, and treatment planning to prevent unnecessary hospitalization.

Key responsibilities

• Provides psychosocial and therapeutic support to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis or detoxification.
• Completes Behavioral Health Assessments during intake and conducts clinical interviews to form diagnostic impressions.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to facilitate individual and group discussions that promote recovery.
• Delivers individual therapy and, when needed, family sessions to support community reintegration.
• Develops collaborative treatment plans and provides professional therapeutic services to persons with mental illness or addictive disease.
• Works alongside EMS personnel in the Coweta CARES program, providing risk assessment and crisis intervention.
• Facilitates admissions, maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and the Care Campus team.

Required profile

• LPC, LCSW, or LMFT license in Georgia (or associate‑licensed/license‑eligible candidate with a Master’s degree).
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility for state licensure and two years of supervised experience or equivalent professional experience.
