Member of Technical Staff, Synthetic Data

About the role

TypeSafe AI is building frontier AI models that are reliable and production‑ready. As a Member of Technical Staff focused on Synthetic Data, you will design and ship data‑tooling interfaces that accelerate model development and improve real‑world reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Create high‑leverage datasets, products, and user interfaces that unlock new model capabilities.
• Build fast, internal data‑tooling and evaluation interfaces for model debugging, inspection, and performance tracking.
• Develop and own evaluation frameworks to measure quality, reliability, and emergent characteristics across model iterations.
• Run rigorous analyses and experiments to understand how data, training choices, and interventions affect model behavior.
• Turn raw model outputs into clear, inspectable UIs, owning the end‑to‑end domain.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and customers to translate real‑world needs into concrete model and system improvements.

Required profile

• Generalist engineer with 2–7 years of experience, strong coding fundamentals, and product intuition.
• High attention to detail and a strong quality bar.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast‑moving problem spaces and delivering creative, hack‑style solutions.
• Critical thinking about LLM outputs and a willingness to validate model generations against reality.
