Member of Technical Staff – Secure Infrastructure & Platform

About the role

Security Level 5 is building the first datacenter purpose‑built to defend frontier AI labs against nation‑state attackers. As a Member of Technical Staff you will design and operate a prototype compute platform that meets extreme security constraints while remaining usable for researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and stand up the SL5 prototype compute platform, including rack setup, network configuration, device security policy, attestation, imaging, enrollment, and build servers.
• Implement deny‑all, permit‑by‑exception execution with no live internet, using measured boot, signed images, allow‑listing enforcement, and secure image‑build pipelines.
• Ensure platform performance for AI training despite air‑gap constraints and reshape researcher workflows accordingly.
• Co‑develop infrastructure and machine‑security sections of the SL5 standard with labs and government stakeholders.
• Publish technical and policy‑focused research with appropriate sensitivity.

Required profile

• 5+ years building and operating production infrastructure at scale (cloud platforms, SRE, datacenters, ML infra, GPU/accelerator fleets) or 2+ years building and stress‑testing training infrastructure at a frontier AI lab.
• Comfort with secure boot, attestation, code signing, key management, image/build pipelines, and network segmentation.
• Experience reasoning about or working in environments without internet access (air‑gapped, classified, or otherwise isolated).
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including ML researchers.
• Motivation to have security work impact beyond the company.
