Melt Shop Production Shift Supervisor

About the role

The Melt Shop Production Shift Supervisor provides frontline leadership in a fast‑paced steel manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Melt Shop Superintendent, the role focuses on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while developing employees.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a safety‑first culture and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Drive operational excellence in safety, production, quality, cost, and people management.
• Identify and implement process, equipment, and efficiency improvements.
• Maintain standard work practices and ensure consistent process standardization.
• Conduct audits, assessments, and coaching to support continuous improvement.
• Lead training initiatives, including ITS programs and employee development.
• Champion 5S and workplace organization to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Develop and execute cost‑control, environmental, preventive maintenance, and safety programs.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and leadership to meet plant objectives.
• Mentor and develop employees, fostering engagement, accountability, and performance.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Material Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable.
• 4‑6 years of industrial/manufacturing experience with process standardization, quality systems, and continuous improvement.
• Prior Melt Shop experience is required.
• Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes and heavy industrial operations.
• Proven team leadership and operational improvement experience.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop employees at all levels.

Required skills

• Lean Manufacturing, GBS, 5S or similar operational excellence methodologies.
• Preventive maintenance knowledge.
• Quality systems familiarity.
• Safety program implementation.
